"Lucky" & First Bath!





She loved it. Until she had to get out.

Brooklyn was pretty spitty-uppy the first few days. So she had a few head and neck and face washings, but she is now keeping everything down, other than the occasional and normal spit up. I can't believe today marks a week already! I plan to do the six week shots I did with Jocelyn, where I caught her in the same outfit every week for six weeks, to see the growth. It's pretty incredible how much the change the first 6 weeks.

The kids have taken a great interest in her now that things have been quieter around our place. Without the dog to distract them they have found Brooklyn to be pretty entertaining. Cate held her for nearly an 45 minutes downstairs while I did some things. They were all very engaged in a Dora show. Landon enjoys holding her too, but not quite as long as Cate. And this morning, Brooklyn and Jocelyn had a near staring contest...Brooklyn couldn't stop gazing at her. I told Jo, "She likes you!" and Jocelyn said, "Noooo, she likes you."

She got this from Janelle who started a little word-war of "You're a silly monkey!" and Jocelyn would reply, "Noooo, you're a silly monkey!" and then Janelle would say it again, and Jocelyn would continue to insist that Janelle was the monkey. It was funny.

Lucky was a pretty sweet little puppy to have around. Ziva is just so big, that my kids are a little nervous about her. And though they were intimidated by Lucky, she was much more their size and twice as playful. They loved it. Part of me would love to have a family dog. A pet for them to enjoy and learn from. BUT, I am not crazy about the idea of a dog either. The novelty of a dog would wear off for the kids too. I just am not up for the poop and the dog hair, and the food and chew toys. I would like an outside dog, but hate that come winter it would be lonely for the dog. Not to mention cold. And our garage isn't big enough for a dog. I don't know. We just aren't ready for that. We will stick with kids for now. A dog is in our future, but just not yet.

Very very cute photos - of everyone. Funny - You will have the kids and hold on a dog, and we will have a dog and hold on the kids! Let me tell you, a dog is a LOT of work...If you guys had a fenced off yard, it would be a piece of cake...but I agree with you. Right now, adding a dog to the mix would be CRAZY busy...just let them enjoy Lucky, Ziva, and the neighborhood dogs for a bit. Wait until they are old enough to actually take CARE of the dog...then get one and dump it on THEM! haha.

I think she looks like Landon on that last shot in the tub! Very fun. I hear you on the dogs. I feel the same way. I think Pete would like one for outside if we had some acreage....maybe someday.

Dogs are work.
We wouldn't have any, if it wasn't absolutely CLEAR, I don't feed or scoop poop! I have too many humans to do that for!

The Opposite of Christmas Morning

We are having the opposite of Christmas morning at our house.  No toys.  We have one of these for storing toys: And several of these for the same reason: And last night the kids thought dumping them out for the sake of dumping toys would be fun.  This is a major rule breaker in our home.  I have had problems with this in the past, (even Mykalee knows this) and i have told them if it happens again, all the toys will disappear. And last night, after I found out what they had done, the toys have been grounded.  FOR A WEEK.  I hope it's as devastating as possible, so that they will learn I am serious when it comes to dumping toys out. {Also, Brooklyn is the only one who is exempt from this, as she was in bed.  Innocent.} On a side note, we did get the kids this on Friday.  It was time.  They seem to love it.

Breaking News: Brooklyn

Nothing like getting a sharp poke in the ear. Especially when you're two and an half and ASK for it. When Brooklyn was a baby I went to have her ears done, but decided to hold off, since her one ear lobe was so tiny, and her ears were very different in size. So I waited. For her to grow into her ears. And to grow some hair. Still waiting on the hair part, so earrings seemed like a great idea. She asked for them, and since we both wanted them, we went and got them. She picked out a pair, and viola, it was done. She said, "Owwwww!" once, and then laughed when the lady gave her a sucker and began modeling for me and Kyle.  All to show off her new earrings! Yup, seriously, she loves them.  It's pretty stinking cute.  She is constantly telling me, each time we clean and rotate them, "Mom, never take them out, 'kay?" Okay. Deal.
