Catelyn--The Birthday Girl!

She knew.  I told her that she was getting a dress for her 8th birthday.  We tried some on, and fell in LOVE with the one we ended up surprising her with!  Doesn't she look too grown up?   I teared up as I watched 12 more years flash before my eyes as I saw her in this mini-wedding dress.  But it was the one for her.  We knew it. With Grandpa Dean's passing, we received special permission {which Kyle didn't like to have to ask for, because in the church handbook, it specifically says "Members should not ask for special permission to baptize their children. . .blah, blah blah....*Oh!! not that I am making fun of the handbook.  I just don't what it says exactly* I argued back that this was a rare exception, and we should at least ask. {Also, not as rare as I thought-- as I found out Friday night -March 18- that the family who had a viewing going at the same time as ours, at Coltrin's, had a baptism and a funeral in the same day as well! ...

Catelyn Update

We think Cate's a smart girl, and we have reason to believe she is:  Along with her good grades, she seems to really enjoy school, and her teacher Mrs. Olsen.  Which makes me happy.  I know that she has a lot of friends, and is well liked and I am so glad that this year is going well for her! As for her teeth, that's going well.  And it time to watch those teeth M-O-V-E!  They put springs in and a chain rubber band and we should see these four front teeth move inward in a speedy fashion.  Fast enough, that I was instructed to take photos. And that it might be painful for off and on for the next four weeks.  So here her lips and teeth and tongue are:March 17th-- St. Patricks Day!

Dancing Girl

On Saturday, Catelyn had her first dance recite with the Vogue Dance Company.  She seems to know her dances pretty well, and was totally happy to perform.  No stage fright from this girl.  Her hair was AWESOME!  It took us 45 minutes to curl it but it was well worth it.  It lasted all evening, she then slept in it and woke up, without a hair out of place, and ready to go to church. (it helps that her mom knows a thing or two about doing hair...) Kyle, me, and the kids, along with both Grandma Cindy and Grandma Mac were there to watch. And it turned out that Ila and her family were there too.  It was so sweet to see the look on Catelyn's face when she realized her friend had watched her dance.  See it in her eyes??  One fun thing about dance is that there are 4 other girls from our ward/neighborhood that are in the same dance class.  It makes dancing even more fun when you do it with friends!  (And fun to car pool with other moms!) ...

just the right size

Don't you secretly wish you were small enough to fix into a towel, just perfectly, like a burrito?  I do. And I know, she won't be this little for much longer. But I had to post it.  It makes me smile.

You didn't!

You didn't just line those up, did you? Yes, you did.  Landon's no where to be seen! You didn't just get a new bed, did you? Yes, you did!  From the Daltons!     You didn't pretend to jump and play on that new bed, did you? Well, can't blame you. You slept in it that night with no problems!  Welcome to a big girl bed, and you aren't even two years old yet!  (Toddler bed: Feb. 28th)   You didn't just barely fall asleep, did you? Oh, no! You crashed! We tried to take a nap on it.  After 3 hours of playing silently, I gave in. I let you get up.  You had managed to rearrange every blanket you had, and strip to nakedness, twice. You didn't just get in the habit of showing us your chewed up food, did you? Ew. Brooklyn!  Stop it! That's so gross!
