Her First Steps!!!

Finally, we are seeing some progress!  Brooklyn is "behind" in comparison to her siblings when it comes to walking!  Everyone else started at 10 months.  But Brooklyn has been holding out on us.  UNTIL YESTERDAY!  Now she is trying like crazy!  Here come the bumps, bruises, and scrapes.  She is so funny about trying to.  She giggles at herself, and it's so cute!  And we all are eager to have her walk in between us, and she even tries to take off from holding on to the couch too!  It won't be long, and we won't have a baby on our hands at all.  Makes me happy and a bit sad too.  But here's to you, Brooklyn!  Go get 'em!

BOTTLE FREE BABY!

I wasn't sure it was true, so I haven't posted this one yet.  But now I know it is, and I feel I can write it down with confidence. A few weeks ago, Brooklyn had a night where she cried and cried, and just wouldn't go to bed.  I wasn't sure what her deal was.  She was mad and wouldn't take her bottle.  I tried a sippy cup to see if that would help, and it only made things worse.  Which was no surprise, because it took her until she was 11 months old to finally take a sippy cup.  So her refusal of the cup wasn't that big a deal. The next night, the same story, though she had taken her bottle during the day, so now I was thinking, "She just doesn't want to go to bed, that little pill!"  I tried a cup again, and that just made her so hopping mad, it was near hilarious.  Though not a laughing kind of funny, as it was 10:30 at night. Night three, well a similar story but this time she decided to take the cup, and wanted a refill.  Okay, swee...

Landon's Such a Boy!

This kid is crazy!  He is so wild and such a boy, it's awesome!  He has more owies right now than I can shake a stick at!  He is covered in scrapes and bruises.  He hasn't wiped out on his bike in days, but he continues to fall, skid, and crash on the pavement due to running, and being silly.  Several of the scrapes are from the bike, and they are healing.  Like his chin, which I forgot to photograph!   Then on Sunday morning, he awoke to tell me. . . "Mom, I think the tooth fairy is coming tonight." "Oh, I doubt it." "No, HE has too!" (as he wiggles his first loose tooth!) Okay, well first off, it's a HE because we jsut saw "Tooth Fairy" at the theater.  So Landon thinks his tooth fairy is a dude.  Cool.  Second, he is way ahead for a tooth loosing schedule!  I thought I had a few more months.  He is so excited, and as  am I for him, but I am going to miss his sweet baby tooth smile.  It changes once t...

Celebrating the Last First Birthday!

Believe me, it was bittersweet.  In comparison to Catelyn's first birthday it was really low key.  Not because she it the 4th baby or the last baby, but because we did a combined party (not my first choice, but it was fine and fun!) with Kelly and Geneva.  We have 3 April birthdays within like 5 days, so it made good sense to do it that way. I didn't post every photo I took, cause I took a lot, but these were my favorites.  I have always let my babies run around in their "birthday suits" for about 10 minutes on their birthdays.   Only allowed to do it once.  She even tried to open her presents, but had to have some sibling help. I LOVE that she loved her cake and ice cream.  Landon was the first to protect her tiny fingers from the candle.  And then hew blew it out for her.  The kitty cake is tradition!  It wasn't that yummy, but that wasn't the point.  She received some nice clothes and shoes, just what she "wanted!"  T...

He's Off on 2 Wheels

Of course his first real wreck after taking off on his own would be the ONLY mud on our street.  He cried and cried because there was mud on his new bike.  boo.  Silly kid. Well, it seems like teaching your son to ride a bike is a DAD thing to do, but Landon was just begging me like crazy to go outside and help him, and i just couldn't deny him that.  I kinda wanted him to NOT learn, so that kyle could finish helping and teaching him and they could have that.  But I kinda DID want him to learn, so that he could say, "My mom taught me how to ride a bike". Nearly 3 hours later, he had it down.  He has wiped out a bit, but really not much at all compared to what I have been expecting.  He has had it down for a few days now, and I can't keep him in the house at all.  He wants to ride it non-stop.  It's pretty awesome.  He is so proud of himself too.  In a matter of 2 days he has been able to go from wobbly to wind-in-his-hair speed....

Ew.

The smashed nose is awesome! "What?!  I like the dog licking my fingers and eating my food." Brooklyn's a riot these days at the dinner table.  She l ♥ ves Chocolate Pebbles and doesn't mind playing a bit of peek-a-boo while she eats.  And, she doesn't mind getting food in her "hair".   She also didn't mind one bit sharing her food with Lucky, who is lucky I didn't freak out that she could lick Brooklyn's fingers clean.  Brooklyn would then take a bite herself and then feed the dog again.  She repetitively put her dog-licked fingers in her mouth.  That darn dog kept coming back (don't blame her, I blame her MOTHER) and Brooklyn l ♥ ved it.  I think she thought we didn't notice.  It was hilarious, and so gross.

Easter Saturday

I The Easter Bunny comes to see us on Friday night!  It's so that our Sundays are less about Easter candy and more about the Savior.  He came to see me as a kid this way, and continues to visit my children in the same manner.   It works well, because the candy buzz wears off before church or conference usually. This year Brooklyn-- got a new sippy cut, Jocelyn-- got nail polish, Landon-- a baseball bat and ball, and Catelyn-- the much wanted notbook and pens. Plus some Laffy taffy and other goodies.

Happy Birthday Brooklyn!!!

Our youngest girl is one today.  I can't believe it's gone by this fast!  She has been a joy to have in our home and we truly are blessed to have her.  I thought it appropriate to reflect on her over the last year.  Enjoy! Easter Injuries, The Rest of the Story

Two years ago, this was our Easter.  After a full day, lots of candy and company, she took a topple down the stairs and cut her eyebrow open.  5 stitches later, we were still in mega tears and sad, and a bottle fixed most of everthing up.  A week later she them taken out and a small scar remains.  I have tried to get it to heal well, though using Mederma.  This was the first time stitches were needed on a child in our home.  We are now experiencing the first "broken arm".  Is this going to be a two year tradition for her?  Easter Injuries??   Just a quick post.  We are headed to an Orthopaedic Surgeon at noon.  After I have the results there, I will do a full post here {on this same post} about what is going on, what happened, and what to expect for the new few weeks.  Please check back, if you want, but also please hold all questions until I can post everything.  {Like why she has to skip Easter when she is 5.} ...

Speaking Brooklyn

I have to say, Kyle caught some sweet little photos of Brooklyn.  Her nose picking skills are improving, and her happy toothless smile melts you up.  Her big blue eyes light up when you call her name, play with her and talk to her.  She is a gem to be around, and we are truly a lucky family to have her in our family. When we were down in Utah, she captured Mikes attention too.  I thought this little photo of her was priceless.  So sweet.  She seemed to care less about Sawyer, but I think it's because she saw him just a year ago in heaven.  She and Jocelyn are funny too, because right now, Jo Jo keeps picking on her, and she deals with it pretty well, but sometimes it's a bit too much and they end up crying.  At the hospital though, they were being pretty cute! We just love this little sweet girl.  I can't believe she will be one this week!
