Family Faces

Here we go. A recap of the fair, based on some of the pictures I have.

Landon and Amanda walking over to check out Grandpa and the cow they were trying to photograph.

Blake decided he needed a photo of himself with Camelot.
Cute couple, huh?

Jake, showing one of our heifers. Looking good huh?

I have no idea what Grandpa was telling Landon, but it was cute that they were having a little talk of their own.

Just like a Pack, have to make a 'face' for the camera. Chad always does this too.
The scoop has beet pulp in it. The cows love it. It didn't take Landon long before he decided he wanted to help to. {May I just add that this year Landon was fearless when it came to the cows. Fearless.}

On show day, it was also the "3-a-Day-of-Dairy" day, and there was more free chocolate milk than one could handle. Well, except Jocelyn. She didn't necessarily drink all of these, but she grew very fond of the empty bottles. She was really funny about it.

One of our nights that we weren't at the fair, while Chad and Courtney were still around, I took the kids for a ride on the four-wheeler. They all loved it.

Though he may not admit it, Lynn loves the fair. For the following reason, {I think}:
1. The food.
2. The people.
3. The cows.
4. The opportunity to sit around a bit and enjoy the atmosphere.
5. The craziness of it all.

Every time we were there this year, which was 5 days of the 8, the kids had ice cream.

I wanted Catelyn to experience holding on to a cow while on a halter. She was nervous. Shaking like a leaf. Not Landon. He loved it.

And I already posted pictures of Kayson, so how could I leave out his little sister, who is pretty darn cute? I have several other photos of her, along with Kayson, but that may have to be another days' posting.

Now Landon was the brave one, but Kayson was the one who was constantly throwing straw. No kidding. Landon joined in, fearless that the cows would care. They didn't. It was the parents who were getting tired of the straw in the kids' shoes, shirts, etc. Itchy.

Every year, I try to catch this shot. It's not the best one ever, because I don't know why Jocelyn wasn't in the photo. Oh well, next year.

Aren't they cute?

And last but not least, this must be my favorite photo from the entire week. I had over 300 photos taken between myself, Chad, and Blake shooting away on the camera. Several I have deleted, because they weren't that great, or were near duplicates, but this one, well it's priceless to me.

The Opposite of Christmas Morning

We are having the opposite of Christmas morning at our house.  No toys.  We have one of these for storing toys: And several of these for the same reason: And last night the kids thought dumping them out for the sake of dumping toys would be fun.  This is a major rule breaker in our home.  I have had problems with this in the past, (even Mykalee knows this) and i have told them if it happens again, all the toys will disappear. And last night, after I found out what they had done, the toys have been grounded.  FOR A WEEK.  I hope it's as devastating as possible, so that they will learn I am serious when it comes to dumping toys out. {Also, Brooklyn is the only one who is exempt from this, as she was in bed.  Innocent.} On a side note, we did get the kids this on Friday.  It was time.  They seem to love it.

Catelyn--The Birthday Girl!

She knew.  I told her that she was getting a dress for her 8th birthday.  We tried some on, and fell in LOVE with the one we ended up surprising her with!  Doesn't she look too grown up?   I teared up as I watched 12 more years flash before my eyes as I saw her in this mini-wedding dress.  But it was the one for her.  We knew it. With Grandpa Dean's passing, we received special permission {which Kyle didn't like to have to ask for, because in the church handbook, it specifically says "Members should not ask for special permission to baptize their children. . .blah, blah blah....*Oh!! not that I am making fun of the handbook.  I just don't what it says exactly* I argued back that this was a rare exception, and we should at least ask. {Also, not as rare as I thought-- as I found out Friday night -March 18- that the family who had a viewing going at the same time as ours, at Coltrin's, had a baptism and a funeral in the same day as well! ...
