Speaking Larsen

Seriously, this girl has a lot going on. From contacts to Cindy Crawford. Let's see.... Where to start. On Wednesday, May 21, Catelyn had an eye appointment and she got contacts. She also had a loose bone embedded into her gums, which the dentist removed. (That was weird. Like a sliver, in her mouth.) On May 23, she had to turn in her form to perform in the Talent Show. She'll be singing. Today, May 27, her whole grade did their wax museum projects. Her glasses came in, so we need to go back to the doctor to have them fit. On May 28th, she and her whole grade are going to Yellowstone. On May 29th, she has an appointment for her contact check-up. On May 30th, she has the Talent Show. On June 3rd, she has her class party and they are going Rollerskating. Mix into that some babysitting and piano, and the girl is booked! But today, let's focus on her WAX MUSEUM PROJECT. Remember in August of 2012 this happened: Well, it's been a few years. May 21, 2014 The poor girl's eyes are just like her mom's. Her vision has slipped so much that she hasn't been wearing her glasses for weeks because she claims they don't help at all. And rightly so. Dr. Kohler's exam proved she was twice as bad as from where she used to be. So next came the big questions. Is she ready for contacts? Is she too young? Is she responsible enough? Well, after discussing it, we went with BOTH! She's on the border for wearing lenses, but I decided it would alright, because I came up with a HUGE catch to having contacts. Drum Roll.....   CATELYN HAS TO PAY FOR THEM. They'll run her about $10 a month, and while in the long run glasses are cheaper, contacts are nice to have.  Jocelyn's running low on the number of teeth she's going to have to bite into corn on the cob and apples. We had the school carnival on Firday night, and she took a bite into her hot dog and then cried out. She came running to me and pointed to her two front teeth... Well, to her one front tooth. It was bent outward and slightly bloody. I asked if I could touch it, and she recoiled. She knows I like to pull teeth out. After a minute she let me touch it with one finger. I was able to move it back and forth and knew it needed to just come out. After a brief pep talk, and with Kyle holding her down, I yanked on it, the root giving me a little trouble. I had to pull a littler harder than I thought, but then it popped. She squealed, but didn't cry I think because she was at the school! After it was said and done, she ran off to jump in the bounce house and show everyone her new smile. Before.... After

We hit West Yellowstone for the annual Larsen Family Reunion. We went into the park this year and saw some great buffalo and scenery. The kids love swimming the very most and this year, I took several photos of them getting wet.

We wrap up the birthday season for a bit with Brooklyn. Janelle and Ryan were in town, but they missed her actual birthday. I let Brooklyn wear a few too many tattoos, as you'll see... I let her wear one on her face. She had a bunch of little friends over, and I think Paula took some photo for me, but I'm not sure where they are. The craziest thing about her big day was that we had to show the house jsut hours before the party. Streamer up and all. Oh well. She had a fabulous time with her friends and is so excited to go to Kindergarten now that she is five. She keeps forgetting she has to wait for summer to come and go first! Snuggling with Janelle We went to lunch for her birthday, at Subway! This shot isn't from her birthday, but it's silly enough to be. And neither is this one, but she loves Vanilla, her unicorn, even grumpy. Just patiently studying where the Easter eggs are hidden for when the Green Light is given to go hunting.

We knew we were going to be headed to Texas in March for Maddie's baptism, and I managed to snap a few photos! The kids had great time, despite the length of the trip. So what if the pool was closed at the first hotel we stopped at. And so what if we didn't get to bask in the heat that was supposed to be Texas. We still got to hang out with cousins, have a party for two days, and do all kinds of fun things with everyone. We got little cookie sheets to use for coloring, games, and such. They were perfect trays. After St. George, it was miles and miles of THIS SCENERY.  Once we made it though, it was better. We stayed at a very LOVELY hotel. We dashed off to the baptism, and spend the evening with Kendra and Kevin and Co.  THIS FUNNY BIKE had Landon and the rest of us laughing so hard. THIS IS CALLED THE DEATH STARE. If looks could kill. This year we had a pretty laid back birthday for Catelyn as well, and celebrated with a few gifts and friends. Her dear friend Kelsey gave her 11 little gifts, which was so sweet and cute. Her friend Ila got her a little jacket, and she wears it all the time! Catelyn' really wanted Chevron skirts for her birthday. And that's exactly what she got! Shortly after her birthday, Catelyn graduated from D.A.R.E. and we couldn't be prouder of her! She tried really hard to not drink soda when they were challenged to give it up. The celebration/graduation was a blast and the whole 5th grade class had a blast! Maren and Catelyn-- all giggles Kelsey and Catelyn Mrs. Smith and Cate! Friends! Catelyn, Andrea and Maren!
