a Brooklyn update {8months}

Still fits in the sink well, and LOVES it!

Naughty!!

About Brooklyn, who was 8 months old yesterday!!!

♥She has her first tooth.
♥She loves her bottles, and can feed herself.
♥She has a temper! She can get pretty mad, pretty fast. Her cry is throaty, like she smokes or something. It's not really funny when she is crying, but funny to think about when she is happy.
♥She is army crawling a bit. She only does it if she is after something she can't reach!
♥ She rolls everywhere, so you can't leave her alone on a bed, couch, etc.
♥ She finds every tiny little crumb, thread, piece of paper, crayon, etc and EATS them. She has digested thread and plastic pine needles. I have had to use the baby Heimlich on her a few times. She seriously has to be watched like a hawk. I vacuum every day.
♥ She giggles really well for the kids. Not much for me or Kyle. Unless it's past her bedtime and she has caught her second wind.
♥ She can get to a stilling position from her belly, which she learned yesterday. She also rocks on her hands and knees, a sing of getting closer to crawling. And she also straightens her legs out so that she is doing a "London Bridge" on her hands and feet.
♥ She is able to eat table food with us if finely pureed without any complications.
♥ She doesn't sleep all the way through the night, but she is getting close!
♥ She doesn't live in a bib anymore!
♥ She can and will stand if propped up against a couch/chair for a L-O-N-G time. Instead of falling, she usually -98% of the time- will start to cry to be rescued before she falls.
♥She switches toys from hand to hand. (milestone the docs look for)
♥ Her ears still aren't the same size, so I haven't pierced them yet, as the one lobe is tiny!
♥ She is truly a blessing in our home, and we adore her. She seems to like us quite a bit too!

She is growing so fast! She is such a cutie! I am glad to hear that she does not live in a bib anymore. Hopefully that means her tummy is getting better.

The Opposite of Christmas Morning

We are having the opposite of Christmas morning at our house.  No toys.  We have one of these for storing toys: And several of these for the same reason: And last night the kids thought dumping them out for the sake of dumping toys would be fun.  This is a major rule breaker in our home.  I have had problems with this in the past, (even Mykalee knows this) and i have told them if it happens again, all the toys will disappear. And last night, after I found out what they had done, the toys have been grounded.  FOR A WEEK.  I hope it's as devastating as possible, so that they will learn I am serious when it comes to dumping toys out. {Also, Brooklyn is the only one who is exempt from this, as she was in bed.  Innocent.} On a side note, we did get the kids this on Friday.  It was time.  They seem to love it.

Breaking News: Brooklyn

Nothing like getting a sharp poke in the ear. Especially when you're two and an half and ASK for it. When Brooklyn was a baby I went to have her ears done, but decided to hold off, since her one ear lobe was so tiny, and her ears were very different in size. So I waited. For her to grow into her ears. And to grow some hair. Still waiting on the hair part, so earrings seemed like a great idea. She asked for them, and since we both wanted them, we went and got them. She picked out a pair, and viola, it was done. She said, "Owwwww!" once, and then laughed when the lady gave her a sucker and began modeling for me and Kyle.  All to show off her new earrings! Yup, seriously, she loves them.  It's pretty stinking cute.  She is constantly telling me, each time we clean and rotate them, "Mom, never take them out, 'kay?" Okay. Deal. And I did mention that we are waiting on some hair, but some is sprouting. So we're hopeful! See, she...
