Landon's Birthday/Baptism Day!

Two days before the big day- Landon started feeling rather low, and was running a fever.  Once again, with the power of the priesthood, a blessing resulted in a rather fast bounce back.  We are so grateful for this kind of power in our home. Landon's gaining his own testimony of blessings, too, because he knows that blessings help him get better faster.
Oops- depth of field is off- but you can see him happily blowing out those 8 candles!
Landon's dinner choice was Pizza Pie Cafe- and it was perfect spot for all of us!  once again, both sets of grandparents and Blaine and Paula were able to come. We went Friday night because Saturday was just going to be too busy for Kyle to join us, so we had to adjust our plans.  Landon's a good sport and didn't mind one bit!

Great minds do think alike!  Betty (aka ME shopping with GB money) and Blaine and Paula got Landon nearly the exact same gift!  Star Wars fighter pods.  Now he has plenty of them!

Landon also received a massive organizing container like Jo from Mac and Kelly.  He's loving that!  Lynn and Cindy gave him his first real set of scriptures and we got him a suit!

Saturday morning, we all got dressed up and met at the Stake Center for Landon's baptism.  Also from our ward being baptized that day was Kennidee Anderson, a good friend of Landon's and her mother and I have been friends since High School. It was wonderful to share the special experience with their family.

Unfortunately we had a super busy day after Landon's baptism.  Kyle had 3 funerals, one of which was Uncle Bob, Dean's brother.  So once again, we baptized one of kids and buried a loved one on the same day.  I'm grateful for the gospel knowledge we have of eternal families and the plan of salvation. I'm sure Dean and Bob had a good laugh at their/our uncanny timing of baptizing our children on the day's of their funerals.  And both Catelyn and Landon were baptized on their ACTUAL birthdays, which is very rare these days!

We are so excited for Landon to be a member of the church now, for him to start really preparing for a mission, and for him to get to experience the gift of the Holy Ghost.  (Not to mention, he gets to go to scouts now! Which is also another thing he is super pumped about!)

The Opposite of Christmas Morning

We are having the opposite of Christmas morning at our house.  No toys.  We have one of these for storing toys: And several of these for the same reason: And last night the kids thought dumping them out for the sake of dumping toys would be fun.  This is a major rule breaker in our home.  I have had problems with this in the past, (even Mykalee knows this) and i have told them if it happens again, all the toys will disappear. And last night, after I found out what they had done, the toys have been grounded.  FOR A WEEK.  I hope it's as devastating as possible, so that they will learn I am serious when it comes to dumping toys out. {Also, Brooklyn is the only one who is exempt from this, as she was in bed.  Innocent.} On a side note, we did get the kids this on Friday.  It was time.  They seem to love it.

Catelyn--The Birthday Girl!

She knew.  I told her that she was getting a dress for her 8th birthday.  We tried some on, and fell in LOVE with the one we ended up surprising her with!  Doesn't she look too grown up?   I teared up as I watched 12 more years flash before my eyes as I saw her in this mini-wedding dress.  But it was the one for her.  We knew it. With Grandpa Dean's passing, we received special permission {which Kyle didn't like to have to ask for, because in the church handbook, it specifically says "Members should not ask for special permission to baptize their children. . .blah, blah blah....*Oh!! not that I am making fun of the handbook.  I just don't what it says exactly* I argued back that this was a rare exception, and we should at least ask. {Also, not as rare as I thought-- as I found out Friday night -March 18- that the family who had a viewing going at the same time as ours, at Coltrin's, had a baptism and a funeral in the same day as well! ...
