Kids Snow Day

Due to an excessive amount of snow, school was canceled, and we took advantage of it!
I hooked up the sleds up to the back of the Durango and
pulled the kids around the 'hood for nearly 3 hours.

By the end of the day, nearly a dozen kids had had a turn.
I am super cautious, set down rules that can't be broken if they want to play, and go super slow,
but they still love it!

I think they try to fall out and tip over on purpose a bit too much, but it's all good.
This time we had so much snow, that we didn't put holes in the bottom of the sleds, which we kinda did last time we did this.  It was beautiful weather- sunny and still to play in the snow.
You'd think a "snow day" would mean terrible weather,
but this particular time it just stormed so much,
that cars and buses were stuck and getting out of some people's drives
was next to impossible  I can't even imagine what some of the country roads looked like.

It's been a week or so, and it got a little too warm, melting all our snow away,
but here's to hoping we get a lot more before winter is over!

The Opposite of Christmas Morning

We are having the opposite of Christmas morning at our house.  No toys.  We have one of these for storing toys: And several of these for the same reason: And last night the kids thought dumping them out for the sake of dumping toys would be fun.  This is a major rule breaker in our home.  I have had problems with this in the past, (even Mykalee knows this) and i have told them if it happens again, all the toys will disappear. And last night, after I found out what they had done, the toys have been grounded.  FOR A WEEK.  I hope it's as devastating as possible, so that they will learn I am serious when it comes to dumping toys out. {Also, Brooklyn is the only one who is exempt from this, as she was in bed.  Innocent.} On a side note, we did get the kids this on Friday.  It was time.  They seem to love it.

Catelyn--The Birthday Girl!

She knew.  I told her that she was getting a dress for her 8th birthday.  We tried some on, and fell in LOVE with the one we ended up surprising her with!  Doesn't she look too grown up?   I teared up as I watched 12 more years flash before my eyes as I saw her in this mini-wedding dress.  But it was the one for her.  We knew it. With Grandpa Dean's passing, we received special permission {which Kyle didn't like to have to ask for, because in the church handbook, it specifically says "Members should not ask for special permission to baptize their children. . .blah, blah blah....*Oh!! not that I am making fun of the handbook.  I just don't what it says exactly* I argued back that this was a rare exception, and we should at least ask. {Also, not as rare as I thought-- as I found out Friday night -March 18- that the family who had a viewing going at the same time as ours, at Coltrin's, had a baptism and a funeral in the same day as well! ...
