Happy Birthday Catelyn!!!

Happy Birthday Catelyn!!!
Yesterday was you last day as a 6 year old.  Here we go for 7!!!

I have picked out a few photos that I love of you, Catelyn,
and hope that you know how special you are as you look at this post.
You truly are a Daughter of God and are so beautiful.
We are so glad you are a part of our family!

*You love to play outside.
*You like math, have struggled with reading, and love recess.
*You stood with Amanda in that wedding line for 45 minutes.
*You are a girly girl.  Lipstick, makeup, nail polish and perfume make you happy.
*You yell a lot.  We are working on an inside voice.
* You seem to want to stop sucking your thumb.
*You love the computer.
*You love to shop.
*You have one year to be ready for your baptism!
*When you fall asleep, you are out like a light!
*You love your teacher, Ms. Bair.
*You need a bigger bike.
*You enjoy watching Phineas and Ferb.
*You draw people really well, and even when you are mad as a hornet,
you draw pictures of our family, with hearts.
*You know several of the Articles of Faith.
*You are a very good helper, when you want to be.  Brooklyn and Jocelyn adore you.
*You carry Brooklyn around like a little mom.
* You often choose healthy foods over sweets, even though you love a good piece of candy.
*You have shared your testimony in church 3 times now!
*When you are happy, our whole home is.

You weren't always a big girl though.  Shall we look back??

You have been a perky, chipper, loving, and fun 6 year old.
You have also been emotional, irrational, and unexplainable at times.

As a 5 year old, you nearly drowned, but BJ saved you.
You wanted a cash register so bad, and
were pretty happy when you got it!
You were a fun little Kindergartner and you loved school.

As a 4 year old, you were busy and social and funny!
You posed for the camera lot, but frequently shied away as well.
Now, you always pose and never shy away.
You had lots of little friends, still do, and we had them over for a party.

As a 3 year old, you met our next door neighbors and friends
--The Kearsleys--
and we discovered taht you and Emily share the
same birthday!   I can't help but look at you and see the
Larsen side of you in this photo.
You look like Kevin to me!  And it's evident, that the little curls
you barely had a babe are long gone.

As a 2 year old, you were into everything, eager to earn money
and liked Landon for the most part.
We loved you little smile and dimples.
You won everyone over that you met with those big blue eyes too!

As a 1 year old and baby, well we just couldn't get enough of you.
We didnt' own a digital camera until you were a few months old.
So I have very few baby/newborn photos on the computer of you.  Boo.
But I do have some that I love!

You were a high strung baby, with a squeal that would turn heads.
It was so high pitched, and that my dear,
has not gone away in the 7 years you have been in our home.
Since your birth, Janelle has been sending you cards and gifts.
I think she really likes you!
We loved your doctor, Timothy West.  He was very good at what he does.
You were a beautiful chubby baby with lots of love to give.
We wecolmed you to our home with love, and still do.  We can't imagine our lives without you.
Happy Birthday Catelyn!!

Born March 19, 2003 at St. Lukes in Boise, Idaho.
You arrived at 2:05pm, and weighed 6 pounds, 8 ounces.
You were 19 inches long.
It was that day,we became parents.
And we will always be happy that we made that choice.

That pic of Cate in the 1 year pile, where she's wearing purple, looks like Brooklyn. I even asked Jonas and he said it was Brooklyn! I can't believe how much she has grown since we first met you guys. My how time flies when you're having fun!

The Opposite of Christmas Morning

We are having the opposite of Christmas morning at our house.  No toys.  We have one of these for storing toys: And several of these for the same reason: And last night the kids thought dumping them out for the sake of dumping toys would be fun.  This is a major rule breaker in our home.  I have had problems with this in the past, (even Mykalee knows this) and i have told them if it happens again, all the toys will disappear. And last night, after I found out what they had done, the toys have been grounded.  FOR A WEEK.  I hope it's as devastating as possible, so that they will learn I am serious when it comes to dumping toys out. {Also, Brooklyn is the only one who is exempt from this, as she was in bed.  Innocent.} On a side note, we did get the kids this on Friday.  It was time.  They seem to love it.

Catelyn--The Birthday Girl!

She knew.  I told her that she was getting a dress for her 8th birthday.  We tried some on, and fell in LOVE with the one we ended up surprising her with!  Doesn't she look too grown up?   I teared up as I watched 12 more years flash before my eyes as I saw her in this mini-wedding dress.  But it was the one for her.  We knew it. With Grandpa Dean's passing, we received special permission {which Kyle didn't like to have to ask for, because in the church handbook, it specifically says "Members should not ask for special permission to baptize their children. . .blah, blah blah....*Oh!! not that I am making fun of the handbook.  I just don't what it says exactly* I argued back that this was a rare exception, and we should at least ask. {Also, not as rare as I thought-- as I found out Friday night -March 18- that the family who had a viewing going at the same time as ours, at Coltrin's, had a baptism and a funeral in the same day as well! ...
