6 Months Later Scaredy Cat

Brooklyn Update:

SHE SITS!!!! On Monday, Sept. 5 she just took to sitting like nobody's business. She is doing awesome at it...barely tipping over. She sits for so long that she starts to cry about being stuck there. So cute!

SHE SPITS no more! Seriously we get the occasional spit up that a normal baby would produce, but it's to the point where we aren't using bibs at all! Yeah! It's fantastic!

SHE SLEEPS like a stinker! Still waking up way to often. Is this because she isn't getting enough to eat??

SHE PUKES! I can't feed this kid much, still. Definitely no rice or oatmeal. So far her tiny tummy can take peas, applesauce, and pears. Upcoming trial food this week is carrots.

SHE SMILES. Like crazy.

SHE LAUGHS. A little. She might be like Jocelyn and take forever to really just let the giggle come out! Oh well. We can tell she is happy.
SHE ROLLS. Everywhere. On occasion, she gets stuck under the couch or a chair.

SHE IS BEAUTIFUL. She really is, with her bald head, and pale skin and baby blue eyes. She is so perfect, we just can't get enough!

Happy Six Months Brooklyn,

WHY WE DON'T HAVE A PET.

Yes, I brought home this:
Cute isn't it. yeah, well my kids acted like 3 teenage girls with a mouse in the house. They were screaming, running for high ground, and then getting down to find the kitten again, to only repeat their actions of screaming and climbing to safety.

Perhaps this is WHY we need a pet.
But I just can't do it right now.
So, it's now back at the farm.
Where it belongs.

It wasn't so bad to babysit it for a while, and even after a few days my kids were warming up to it. But, I think it's just a bad time to add a kitten to the mix. Maybe in the spring. You can see that my kids are seriously freaking out in the photos. And this doesn't even begin to give you an idea at how bad it was. Scaredy cats.

Yes, Brooklyn is by far the least afraid, always trying to hold it and eat it.
And Catelyn, below, that is a force smile after I forced her to hold the dang thing.

Yes, beware.
Kittens are seriously so scary and dangerous.

Had a crazy weekend with company in town and what not.
We hung out with Chad and Courtney, Janelle and Ryan, and Grandma Betty!!!
For now, let these little pics suffice. It was an exhausting weekend! (Note that Jo Jo went on her own to get her blanket pillow and paci and was "resting" as she said, by the door. Next thing we know, her resting had turned into sleeping.) Where Cate was for all the photos, I don't know. She isn't in any pics this time. And I am realizing most of these photos I didn't take.

Very cute pics of Brooklyn! I love the one of her on the couch where she's smiling HUGE! And that is too funny about the cat. How cute that Brooklyn wanted to hold it....not so cute wanting to eat it!

The Opposite of Christmas Morning

We are having the opposite of Christmas morning at our house.  No toys.  We have one of these for storing toys: And several of these for the same reason: And last night the kids thought dumping them out for the sake of dumping toys would be fun.  This is a major rule breaker in our home.  I have had problems with this in the past, (even Mykalee knows this) and i have told them if it happens again, all the toys will disappear. And last night, after I found out what they had done, the toys have been grounded.  FOR A WEEK.  I hope it's as devastating as possible, so that they will learn I am serious when it comes to dumping toys out. {Also, Brooklyn is the only one who is exempt from this, as she was in bed.  Innocent.} On a side note, we did get the kids this on Friday.  It was time.  They seem to love it.

Breaking News: Brooklyn

Nothing like getting a sharp poke in the ear. Especially when you're two and an half and ASK for it. When Brooklyn was a baby I went to have her ears done, but decided to hold off, since her one ear lobe was so tiny, and her ears were very different in size. So I waited. For her to grow into her ears. And to grow some hair. Still waiting on the hair part, so earrings seemed like a great idea. She asked for them, and since we both wanted them, we went and got them. She picked out a pair, and viola, it was done. She said, "Owwwww!" once, and then laughed when the lady gave her a sucker and began modeling for me and Kyle.  All to show off her new earrings! Yup, seriously, she loves them.  It's pretty stinking cute.  She is constantly telling me, each time we clean and rotate them, "Mom, never take them out, 'kay?" Okay. Deal. And I did mention that we are waiting on some hair, but some is sprouting. So we're hopeful! See, she...
