Welcome to Young Womens

Catelyn is officially twelve! We can't quite believe it.
She was just this tiny chubby baby yesterday, I swear. Cliche' I know, but it's true.

She's had a week of celebration, too.

On Saturday, we took her and MaKyra to see Into The Woods. Meh. I think she liked it, but we're all kinda wishing we would've gone to see the new Cinderella. Oh well. We ran MaKyra home, but instead of going home, we took Catelyn shoe shopping. After that, she got to pick where we went to eat, and she chose Olive Garden.

Kinda love her a little more for it, too.

By the time we got home it was almost ten, I think.

Sunday afternoon Cate met with the bishop--hahah!--and received her Personal Progress book and her first temporary recommend. So cool! We have plans to take Cate to do baptisms for the dead this upcoming Saturday.

On Monday, we went to dinner and then to see District 91's musical, Pirates of Penzance. It wasn't necessarily the best musical we've ever seen, but the kids in the show are so great and amazing that we enjoyed it nonetheless.

On Tuesday, she got to go to mutual because it was a stake activity for all girls attending camp this year.

Wednesday she was supposed to go to dinner with Mac and Kelly, but Mac came down with a nasty stomach bug, so they had to reschedule. Meanwhile, we went out to Lynn and Cindy's so Cate could see Cindy. Lynn was on a trip and Thursday, her birthday, Cindy was having an angiogram. It worked out just fine, While we were visiting the YW leaders decorated her room to welcome her to the program.

Today! Today! She gets to go on a field trip to tour the middle school, then to see a little play there, and then will share her birthday treats with her class--Cadbury Eggs! Tonight we have Pack Meeting, but she'll be surprised when Amy shows up to kidnap her and take her out for ice cream.

She officially gets to wear make up, too.

So there you have it.  This is her last year before she's officially a teenager! Yikes! and Exciting!

The Opposite of Christmas Morning

We are having the opposite of Christmas morning at our house.  No toys.  We have one of these for storing toys: And several of these for the same reason: And last night the kids thought dumping them out for the sake of dumping toys would be fun.  This is a major rule breaker in our home.  I have had problems with this in the past, (even Mykalee knows this) and i have told them if it happens again, all the toys will disappear. And last night, after I found out what they had done, the toys have been grounded.  FOR A WEEK.  I hope it's as devastating as possible, so that they will learn I am serious when it comes to dumping toys out. {Also, Brooklyn is the only one who is exempt from this, as she was in bed.  Innocent.} On a side note, we did get the kids this on Friday.  It was time.  They seem to love it.

Catelyn--The Birthday Girl!

She knew.  I told her that she was getting a dress for her 8th birthday.  We tried some on, and fell in LOVE with the one we ended up surprising her with!  Doesn't she look too grown up?   I teared up as I watched 12 more years flash before my eyes as I saw her in this mini-wedding dress.  But it was the one for her.  We knew it. With Grandpa Dean's passing, we received special permission {which Kyle didn't like to have to ask for, because in the church handbook, it specifically says "Members should not ask for special permission to baptize their children. . .blah, blah blah....*Oh!! not that I am making fun of the handbook.  I just don't what it says exactly* I argued back that this was a rare exception, and we should at least ask. {Also, not as rare as I thought-- as I found out Friday night -March 18- that the family who had a viewing going at the same time as ours, at Coltrin's, had a baptism and a funeral in the same day as well! ...
